A Man Who Loved His Family –A Requiem For Biagio “Steve” Fagiano

You can judge a man by the way he treats his children. The way a man treats his mother and wife are also good ways to judge him. However, the love a man has for his daughter and the things that he would do for her are truly different from every other kind of love known to humankind.

Sometime shortly after World War II ended, Biagio “Steve” and Georgina “George” Fagiano brought their beautiful baby girl Kathy into the world. For many years, Kathy would be Biagio and Georgina’s only child. They initially resided in Chicago and at some point later moved to Elmwood Park, Illinos.

While raising little Kathy, Biagio worked very hard as an employee for Honeywell. Georgina held a few small jobs over the years as well; however, Biagio was indeed the principal breadwinner.

It felt as if the enormous love that Biagio and Georgina had for Kathy could not be surpassed – until Kathy gave birth to her two children Steven and Nicole.

When Steven and Nicole were little children, their grandpa Biagio, who they loved as much as he loved them, was known to them as Pops. He made it a point to pick up his beautiful little grandchildren from school almost every single day. I was a witness to it. Decades later I still remember it as if it were yesterday, seeing the look on Steven and Nicole’s faces when they would see Pops waiting for them in his car.
